New trailer for King of Spades

…and a half?

Ahh, book trailers…

This is kind of(?) a new thing in the realm of authors as far as I know, and I tend to see more among the self-published/indie crew who are allowed to come up with their own marketing strategies and experiment with their own creativity.

I love a good book trailer. They are so exciting…and they don’t have to be epic quality, just something that your audience can watch for a minute or two and decide whether it is something they would like to know more about.

Most of the comments/reviews I receive about King of Spades mention the action scenes playing like a movie in the reader’s head, so I thought that it would be fun to have a trailer resemble an action movie…But with the added artistic flair I’ve had the blessing to be able to add due to working with a very talented artist and having a similar background myself.

The new trailer features racing cars, heart-stopping missile targeting, art inspired by the Darkrose Novels, audio quotes and excerpts from King of Spades. Phew.

The art featured is by Teo L, a fantastic artist I have had a privilege of working with (more on this serendipitous relationship later.) The characters appearing in the trailer are Number One, Agent Starr and Cleo Darkrose, and each portrait brings an accurate mood to the characters that I have found so exciting to see develop.

The audio quotes are all taken from dialogue within the book and the frames containing text are also direct photographs from King of Spades.

I thought it was different to include actual quotes from the book, pics of the fonts in the book as well as art inspired by the Darkrose Novel’s characters. It’s a mash of everything I could/should have done individually.

She is a typical rebelling teenager, full of strong opinions she’s formed in her many years of experience, and her journeys into social media and trending hashtags.
Lack of attention will most likely be the cause of her death on any given day.

She has presence under her bratty tendencies. When she is plunged into a world of danger and conspiracy, she has to decide the kind of person she is.

We are yet to see the results in full…

Tanya likes makeup, pop songs on the radio and all the things she shouldn’t.
