Just a thought…
I’ve noticed a(nother) disturbing trend spreading around the world at the moment. Yay! It even caused me to track down a copy of The Giver film and show my mum, because my most recent rant sounded like I was describing something from out of that film adaptation. (I haven’t read the book.)
In The Giver people are scolded for using “precision of language.” It’s more accepted to say “I’m proud of you,” instead of mentioning love. They aren’t allowed to apply a word that could lead to intense emotion. The arbiters of the regime in the movie/book recognise that words have the power to generate emotion and erased any chance that someone would think outside the box they’ve created.
In our world, we seem to have the use of language to sterilise some things but amplify others…and some people are permitted to use these. Others have to tread carefully with how they present an idea or argument otherwise they are accused of creating issues. Headlines and talking heads, interviews with people deliberately use emotive language in soundbites to push outrage and agenda, you can theorise why that is on any given occasion. Once you can read between the lines or have “ears to hear” as they say, it becomes so nauseating you can’t cope with watching the mainstream news or current affair programs, which are owned by only a few companies. When the newsbreaks happen on the radio in your car – I challenge you to switch stations and prove me wrong. There are clips you can watch on Youtube/other video websites, of different news outlets and programs reading the exact same script. The united front can reinforce the walls of the box you’re in and shape your perception of reality.
I dislike headlines about someone who “ranted,” when it was actually someone eloquently and calmly stating facts the interviewer just doesn’t agree with. You’ve heard of “putting words in someone’s mouth?” This is putting anger in someone’s mouth. The individual’s interpretation or bias results in headlines that are false, and if they’re sensitive to a particular topic or have set out to hate on the person they are speaking to, the bias is obvious. Very prevalent in the MSM.

“Y’all love to cancel ppl for the same sh*t y’all literally do,” she wrote in a series of tweets.
I’ve heard -real– rants, they’re angry, loud, spewing things that have frustrated the individual for a long time, messy and uncontrolled. It’s not someone presenting facts you don’t agree with, at a rate your brain finds overwhelming. There’s only so fast you can Google something to check, I get it! There’s only so much time before your audience starts thinking that maybe you aren’t the be all end all to the facts of the world.
There’s also no such thing as a “Twitter Rant,” (imo.) A rant is sound and action. Not a few sentences typed on a keyboard that you interpret as very angry. Bhad Bhabie does refer to her own tweets as rants (LOL,) but younger people/people who don’t have much world experience yet, are right in the trajectory to be steamrolled over and moulded to interpret things through goggles of the media’s ability to infiltrate every aspect of their worlds.
I dislike gossip rags using the word “sob” when describing a celebrity who is a little upset and some Paparazzi guy took her picture as she was leaving a Starbucks. It’s a gossip rag, I know, but the definition of sob is not wiping away a tear. Certainly not over pimples(see below pic. How is this even a news story btw?) It’s concerning when the norm is gradually blurring the lines between action and words, and when words used to describe something are the extreme versions of what’s actually occurring.
It gives room for people to be labelled a certain way, and if that is done on a wide basis (eg through the MSM) it has potential to psy-op millions.
TLDR:
*The Powers that Be realise words matter and use them to shape perception before you’re consciously aware you’re getting a bias embedded.
*They are changing the meaning slowly but surely.
*I love language
