First, I’d Like to Thank the Academy
March 19, 2020 1:38 pm Leave your thoughtsNah, not really, but I do want to thank all the people around me for being insane and giving me content this week
–Controversial content for some, so if you like to argue or feel a little sensitive right now, click the little X in the upper right corner. Save us both the trouble…
I’m not sure this is the medium as I like to keep my worlds separate, and there are many worlds 😉 …But I’m used to banging out 2000 words for an in-depth article or piece and can’t help it. I tailored it to be more an opinion piece with facts you should all know thrown in. Then I second-guessed it and tried to come up with another post but…this is what it is…
Here is my CORONA VIRUS experience so far. It will be different from someone in Italy right now, or China, the UK etc., someone who is sick with it, someone who is in the mandatory two week quarantine after flying etc. But this is mine, and this is what it is right now.
I’m not sick, no one I know is sick, no one is featuring in the local paper or news sites as having “COVID19.” Everyone I see and talk to is happy, healthy, able and also bewildered. Literally NOTHING has changed in the general health status of the people around me, apart from the idiotic hysteria helped brought about by the biased news media. No schools are closed (yet?) some places of business have put their employees on 2 weeks shut down with full pay (Apple retail) and the government has put out a suggestion that gatherings of 500+ people shouldn’t go ahead but so far, I think(?) they’ve left that at the discretion of the event planners.
Things like street markets/block parties thrown by local government, where local businesses sell handmade jewelry etc, have been cancelled.
Concerts have been cancelled too, which is understandable since a lot of people fly in and sit in the audience and it’s all close-quarters. But the open air stuff bothers me. If I want to attend something like that, I should be allowed. My country and location within is pretty different from a lot of other places appearing in the news. This whole country has about 24 million people in it total, and about 200 of them might show up at different times to market stalls set up in a massive park with a lot of trees and grass. But okay. I will do what is asked because, it’s really not that hard and who can be bothered in this weird weather? *shrugs*
HYSTERIA
But settle down, sheep.
Please.
I want my pack of toilet paper for my regular grocery stock up and I don’t want to wake up at the ass crack of dawn and show an ID card to get it.
The toilet paper has disappeared in NZ, Aust, UK etc anywhere that likes to wipe their own ass. I referred to the Daigou in a previous post, and I figured this hysteria would blow over when those soulless, selfish, money-hungry idiots transported all the goodies back to other countries but no…Everyone is stocking up. I got over it eg: people are idiots, fine. I know that, I accept that. What I can’t get over is the expanse and spread of this embarrassing behaviour. Today I was told I can’t buy two packs of NAPKINS for something I was making for a (now cancelled) birthday party on the weekend.

This video was posted to Facebook, apparently showing Daigou (paid, surrogate shoppers) systematically buying bulk items and arranging them in bags outside the store to transport. it appears to be from the era of the “baby formula” days (based on the items seen in the video) but this is how an international ring of paid shoppers do it. Maybe the grocery chains are trying to stop that weird shit?
Last night there were comments and photos coming into social media platforms regarding busloads of people doing this by travelling to rural areas and cleaning them out to resell to China and other countries. And it’s probably a nasty wake up to show the grocery chains that they might have a limit…but it doesn’t stop people running in there 10 mins later to buy the same items.
We’ve already got empty shelves in the long-life milk section, sugar aisle, obviously cleaning products of all kinds and now meat. Yes, now meat. Even people who aren’t surrogate shoppers are freaking out because that stuff is gone and then they’re going in and getting as much as they can.
This is my own current personal experience, but there was no problem buying packaged meat at my local store until the news reported one of the big grocery chains limiting it.
I was there in the morning and the news screened some BS soundbite that evening about minced meat being stockpiled. ABRACADABRA! The next day, no meat. The media is not helping. They like to spread the panic because it gets them clicks, it gets them viewers, and it gets them POWER! I wouldn’t be surprised if, in years to come, grocery chains admit to paying newsoutlets to say something is getting sold out so they can sell a slow-moving product because people think it’s in demand. #socialengineering
GOVERNING THIS SAGA
I’m concerned that the government in this country hasn’t thought about the messes they’ve created for people on low incomes. This government rammed through welfare cards for some people in certain troubled areas under the guise of looking like they were saving the country money (it actually costs them more to implement and maintain these cards than not to.) The cards only allow recipients to shop at certain grocery stores (the main two grocery stores, who are limiting purchases, and being cleaned out of stock regularly.)
How are those people supposed to shop? They can’t go to a local market and pick up something at a small local store. They have to go to the ones the government has dictated. And now those stores are failing to provide.
At this point, I think of the government as virtue signalling to the rest of the world, trying to look like they are keeping their people safe…but internally they’re fucking them as usual, don’t worry about that. There are theories that if they had closed borders early (eg Russia etc)that they wouldn’t be suffering the consequence of people fearing the spread of the virus and acting like animals, that the strain to appear not to be racist has made it so people from high-risk countries were able to travel here easily at a time when maybe that should have been handled differently.
Is a $750 each stimulus package going to make people feel better?
SOCIAL MEDIA GIANTS

https://www.forbes.com/sites/johnkoetsier/2020/03/17/facebook-deleting-coronavirus-posts-leading-to-charges-of-censorship
Facebook is censoring anything to do with Corona virus, even if it’s shared from a mainstream news source or direct from authenticated news pages. I can vouch for this because I posted THIS LINK and days later got the below screenshot. Seems they have gone a bit crazy with power…makes you think about the other things they are censoring of the info they’d keep from their customers if asked by big players. 😉
GOOGLE/Skynet has also changed algorithms so that certain phrases throw up a LOT of result pages of links they want you to see before you can find anything alternative to what the mainstream wants you to believe. We’re living in interesting times…and I hope people are noticing the psy-ops and social-engineering going on in the background.

WASTING TIME
People are very different and lots of people are susceptible to being idiots. Some are being tested for a cold/flu and thinking they’re going to die from this virus when they have a regular seasonal cold. Although they’ve never left the country and aren’t in at-risk age categories, some people are already wasting medical personnel’s time because of their paranoia fueled by every single news channel and all the people around them.
Today I sneezed (it was fucking dusty!) and a woman spun her head around Exorcist-style to look at me in fear. I told her I have corona virus and made a face like   O.O
I couldn’t help it.
And I’m not sorry.
I cannot go anywhere without hearing about it. People on the train are talking about it, they’re playing shitty youtube videos without headphones and forcing it down my throat, adults, school kids, work colleagues will not STFU. The mentality behind it makes me confused and reminds me of the gun buy-back schemes where people who never had anything to do with gun crime willingly give up firearms in some kind of virtue signal solidarity because some people were (tragically) killed.
I’m not going to bother a doctor to test for something not necessary (or buy ALL the painkillers.) I haven’t traveled recently, I broke a bone, had some health issues and more, so I’ve been in my own self-imposed lock-down/quarantine for months anyway. All I leave the house for is my slave gig shifts and the occasional grocery shopping trip. It’s extremely unlikely I would be unlucky enough to contract this version of the cold/flu so I won’t be freaking out thinking the boogeyman illness is going to get me and wasting a doctor’s time when they could be helping someone who needs it.

Tom Hanks at the Golden Globes in JAN, making a joke about his illness and later admitting he has the virus after entering Australia. img Dailymail
There are currently a handful of citizens who apparently tested positive for the virus in this country and even high profile visitors like Tom Hanks who brought it here for a holiday. (Sooo…did he come on a private plane or commercial? Who else did he infect on the plane before landing in Australia?) There are 24million people in this country. What percentage has the virus affected so far and can we please get the number of people who have recovered with no lingering issues? I don’t usually see any sources screaming an update those statistics.
CROSSFIRE
I want to see someone overseas, this person is very important to me and I want to spend time with them because we’ve had big plans for a while. Today (time of writing this) our government said no one is able to travel. I’m not the only one in this shitty predicament. I currently know someone who has just left to see her S/O, two days before we were officially told we can’t fly out. I am excited and happy for them but upon hearing about this, a lot of people were being rude and she copped a lot of jealous and hysterical hate. I even left a group on social media because some ugly knowitall kept replying under any comment about CORONA VIRUS and telling people information they can search for themselves. He then went on to say he will post something to warn people off traveling because it “saves him scolding them later.” Da fuq he think he is? LOL!
This whole thing has brought out the worst in everyone. Including me. I can barely control my rage when browsing the (empty) aisles and witnessing dumbasses tear apart a restocked shelf of tissues. This is making me hate everyone. The mentality behind this behaviour is disgusting. What happened to the community vibe, everyone donating and helping those in need after the bushfires? That sentiment disappeared as soon as people worried about how they were going to wipe their asses.
Well done, Australia.
HOW LONG WILL THIS LAST?
I don’t know, but probably as long as it takes to draw up sloppy legislation to steal some more rights. As bad as people think it is, or are being told it is, or that it actually is…it doesn’t bode well.
I’m old enough to remember what happened after 9/11 and the ridiculous measures proposed in the wake, including shock bracelets for every plane passenger in case someone had to be subdued, being unable to take a hair straighter onboard and now passengers have to walk through FBS/body scanners, which are yet to catch a single “terrorist” but continue to zap people with radiation and expose their junk to the man behind the curtain.
…Whatcha reckon they got in store for us this time? 😉
Presentation of medical papers/Drs cert to prove you can fly? Mandatory medications? Submitting a complete travel itinerary to (discovered years later to be) a corrupt government body? I’ve heard that churches in Singapore are putting QE codes on pews and assigning parishioners seats so they can see who was in a certain area if someone is sick later. Will this kind of thing stick and become usual practice? Time will tell.
So, I’m not scared of a virus, even with a screwy immune system. Maybe it’s because I’m in a location where I’m pretty lucky and haven’t experienced what other places are coping with…but I’m in disbelief at the behaviour around me more than anything right now. I knew frightened people copied knee-jerk attitudes of those in charge trying to cover their own lack of foresight…but this is definitely an eye-opening experience to the mentality of panic and to the undeniable power the media and fear has over millions of people…
TLDR:
*Everything is shutting down either by necessity or by virtue signal.
*Mistakes have been made around the world and now everyone is in a panic.
*People are stupid.
*Having said that, we all need to be kind to each other because shit sucks right now.
