I love free speech. I love art. I like having the day “off” to study and watch vids online in my breaks.
Some of them are about arts and crafts, recipes, a host’s take on a current event, a crime show…and are “alternative;/indie.” That means no massive paycheck behind them or production by professionals. It makes it more interesting and, let’s not forget, if you have no masters – you can say what you want. You can tell the truth without tech overlords banning you for 30 days because you chose to source your status from a medical journal and not their approved publications.
However…
Everyday is cringe because of this freedom too.
I wish the likes of Youtube etc were as harsh on things like a grasp of second grade grammar and not just whether you are perpetuating and parroting an accepted or paid-for narrative. Isn’t this misinformation? Some of these clowns are using words incorrectly and spreading the wrong pronunciation and meanings? LOL
It used to make me laugh. Now it’s become so frustrating I can barely get through some videos. I follow one creator who speaks in melaphors and half metaphors. At first, I thought he was being ironic, because most of his videos are making fun of people in the political system and calling them stupid…then it became apparent he just spoke like that.
“Didn’t even bat an eye,” – is one he loves to repeat. Like the word “alright,” I think it’s accepted now as meaning the same thing as ALL RIGHT. But it’s not supposed to be. And yes, I will Karen out on these things. It makes me cringe every time!
Another channel I follow breaks down crimes in the UK. It’s by an English guy who was a little rough around the edges, and the content was trying too hard to be cool. Lately, he’s settled into doing short recounts of crime reports in his country. They aren’t very involving because they are a little shallow and short, but still entertaining. His favourite go-tos are:
“It’s came at a time when I had to get ready for work…”
“He’s went and just pulled the blinds up.”
“By the time he’d went there.”
Special mentions to “SICKTH.” Which is a variation I’ve heard in a a growing number of videos from different countries, different accents and about various subjects.
It’s siXth. Okay?
Just stop.
and the simple gaffes that no one should be making after the age of 7, like:
“There is lots of information, if you look.” This one makes me annoyed, especially if they’re discussing something serious or important. It’s almost disrespectful.
Last special mention; Melaphors. Learn your stuff, please. It is not “we’ve only just scratched the tip of the iceberg.”
GRRRRRR
Rant over. 🙂
TLDR:
*I spent the day in Pjs. It was amazing.
*I did some studying and then took breaks and watched videos online.
*The grammar annoyed me. A lot.
It makes me think of this.
